Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial)


Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial) Lucknow is built for those who lost their lives in the first war of independence in 1857. In Lucknow Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and his Begum Hazrat Mahal had taken part in the movement. It was built in the 1970s and is dedicated to the martyrs who laid down their lives during the Freedom Movement of India.
The monument was designed by the famous architect Prasanna mansion.Shaheed Smarak is surrounded by a beautifully decorated park with lot of trees and grass, make it a nice place to visit at any time of the day. On the north side of Shaheed Smarak, River Gomti makes the boundary for it.
It was situated opposite the Residency, on the bank of the river Gomti, stands a white marble memorial amidst a beautiful park.In Shaheed Smarak you can also take a joy of paddle boating in river Gomti. Shaheed Smarak increases the beauti of Lucknow and it was also a tourist attraction site.Besides these Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial) feels proud to the people.
