Kukrail Reserve Forest

"Kukrail Reserve Forest is situated on the outskirts of Lucknow, it is a vast forest developed by the Forest Department."
The centre at Kukrail came up in the year 1978, which was funded by the Uttar Pradesh forest department in collaboration Ministry of Environment and Forests India. This effort marked the beginning of state government's efforts towards conservation of crocodiles at a time when only 300 of them were left.Also referred as the Ghariyal Rehabilitation Centre, it was developed by the Forest Department for the preservation of Crocodiles, Gharial. It was also known as Kukrail Picnic Spot.

Kukrail Picnic Spot

Kukrail Picnic Spot is quite natural forest and sanctuary.The forest is famous for its deer park and crocodile nursery. One can found various types of birds, deer, black buck, sambhar etc in their natural habitat. Spread in a very wide area, this forest consists of a lush green ground with beautiful flowers and trees.The children’s Park with lots of traditional Jhoolas for children, a canteen with cold drinks and snacks , boating in the Kukrail river and the rest house etc make it a beautiful picnic spot. It also offers recreational activities like playing Badminton, Tennis Ball, Cricket, Flying Disc etc. 

Here, tourists and picnickers are treated to the mesmerizing sights of deer grazing in their natural habitats and complete with rest places and cafeterias.It was also a couples spot.

Ghariyal Rehabilitation Centre

The Forest Department of UP, India, launched a program to safe the ghariyals which were being killed for their skins.A compaign was launched as "The Ghariyals are our Friends" by the government and for this purpose Ghariyal Rehabilitation Centre was established in Kukrail Reserve Forest in Lucknow. Not only Ghariyals it also rehabilitae crocodiles and turtle also.You can see numbers of ponds on which female ghariyal,female crocodile and female turtle lays there eggs.

It also have a ' Leopard Rescue Centre' at Kukrail and a piece of land has already been identified by the Forest Department with coordination from zoo administration. The Centre will house leopards caught from areas that see marked-man-animal confilct. The above two developments make the Picnic spot more interesting and famous.There was also a museum in which variety of animals sculptures are placed

 A stream runs through this picturesque forest and a variety of birds and black buck can also be seen here in their natural habitats.

Beside these it was a beautiful reserve forest which was also used as very famous picnic spot in which every one enjoyed. It was one of the famous picnic spot in Lucknow.
