Husainabad Clock Tower is one of the most remarkable and impressive structures of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Located on the banks of the Gomti River.Between the Bara Imambara and Chhota Imambara is the Clock Tower of Lucknow. This huge tower was constructed by Nawab Nasir-ud-Din Haider in the year 1880.
The Clock Tower construction was originally started in 1840 by Nawab Nasir-ud-Din Haider, but when the Nawab died the construction stopped at 4th storey.It is commonly known as Ghantaghar and reflects Victorian and Gothic style designs.
The Clock tower also has the biggest fitted clock that cost the government around Rs. 1.75 lakhs at that time.Gunmetal is used for building the clock parts. Its gigantic pendulum has a length of 14 feet and the dial of the clock is designed in the shape of a 12-petalled flower and bells around it.
The architectural style and the material used to build the Husainabad Clock Tower, is an example of the excellence and finesse of the British architecture
